Two posts in one day! Holidays have definitely started! :D And to prove that, here is a post which doesn't involve too much of thinking or any philosophy. In fact, it has no point at all! Just a small, insignificant experience which I blew outta proportions because thats how bored I used to get during the reading week before my exams started.
It was Tuesday morning. I used to do my laundry on Saturday nights. But then, over the past few weeks, it changed to Monday mornings and finally to Tuesday mornings. You know why? Because the machines and dryers would be absolutely free! I have a wide range of machines to choose from in the mornings when everyone else was either sleeping or studying! But the tuesday of my reading week was different. My laundry room has 9 dryers which are spread over 2 coin boxes. 2 dryers don't work. Dryers 1 to 5 have one common coin box and the rest have another. It just so happened that on Tuesday morning, the second coin box refused to work. As a result, 4 machines were not usable. And it just so happened that 5 other people had decided to do their laundry at the same time as me! Poor old me had to take my two loads of wash all the way to my tiny little room to dry them. And you know what? I don't have a line to hang any clothes in my room! :(
So I enter my room, trying to figure out how exactly I was going to dry all my stuff. My eyes fell on one of the blinds in my room. That blind has never worked. I have lived in this room for 2 semesters now, and I have complained a million times about it. No action was ever taken. So it remained permanently shut. I got a sudden idea! I thought to myself... "If the darn thing doesn't work anyway, what does it need its string for??? I can't even open it and that string is pretty useless... they are anyway going to replace it sometime... and now I have clothes to dry and need a rope or string to hand them on.. hmmm...." Here are some pictures of my redecorated room
A picture of... "The Blind That Never Worked". Hmmm... Could make a nice title for a movie or a book! :P
And there it is..... my very own clothes line! Easy to make! All you need is a broken blind and a ladder (or any other object to tie the line to) near by!
A silhouette of the line... It was supposed to be an "artistic shot" :P
This is the opposite end of my room. I didn't think the line was strong enough to hold four heavy and wet jeans. So........ you know......
This picture for some reason reminds me of boy bands.. So i named it "backstreet jeans". I considered naming the clothesline "we(s)tline", but for some reason didn't do it. But this picture reminds me of boy bands for some weird reason. Any ideas why?? If you do, then lemme know!
I actually didnt mind drying the clothes in my room rather than the dryer. It was a nice sunny morning. I left all my windows open and the fan was on full speed. I was hoping for the clothes to dry by evening. There was stuff drying on my bed too. But I didnt take pictures of those. For the rest of the day, I had to sit on the floor and study :|
And then guess who decided to pay Singapore a visit??? Why, it was the Rain God of course! Now I was wondering how long I would have to sit on the floor studying.. It was pouring like mad outside! I was forced to close my windows because water was coming in and threatening to flood my table! So there I sat, in my cool yet humid room.. with wet clothes hanging all over the place... Oh joy.... *sigh*... Here are some pictures of the wonderful weather that we had on my laundry day.... seriously.. I would have loved this weather on any other day... but not laundry day!!!
The dark clouds... Looks like the factory chimneys are spewing out so much of smoke that it darkened the whole sky right?? The brownish smoke is from the chimneys and the rest are dark rain clouds...
Take note of this picture carefully... You see an island with factories spewing out smoke... then you see the harbour with all it's mighty cranes. You can also see two ships at the harbour... take a very close look.. this was before the storm...
Now take a look at this one! The storm had just started! Can't see the island anymore! Notice the harbour....
Boy! That was some storm!!! Where did the harbour go???!!!! You can barely make out the buildings! It was raining so heavily!
This is a picture from my room... not much to see. It was raining so heavily that I couldn't even open my window for a quick photo. The previous few photos were taken from my kitchen.
So much for drying clothes :|
I studied well that day though. I manage to finish lots when it rains somehow... i hate studying when it rains.. I like to just sit and watch it.. But when I am forced to study, I perform better!
Here are a few pictures I took during my breaks. Yeah yeah.. I know... I was really desperate for some form of entertainment. But I love these pictures!
My teddy bear trying out my jeans! Its too big for you teddy!!!!
My teddy bear sitting snugly in my jeans!
Erm... i guess thats it! This was the post about....
Drying jeans in the rain!
And about how to take entertaining yet pointless breaks during a study marathon!

See, now this is why I want my very own digi-cam. To take pointless pics and blog about them! Maybe I can convince Dad this time when I go home. *thinks of evil plot to blackmail Dad* :P
'Westline' and 'Backstreet Jeans' are hilarious!! So is the cute little teddy. I can't stop smiling! Makes me want to have my very own cute little teddy. :(
Well, looking forward to more stuff in the hols! Write something everyday...a pointless post can be very entertaining at times (like this)! :)
I, for one, do believe that laundry woes are indeed blog-worthy! Looks like you're going all out now that exams are done! cool!! enjoy!!

Haha. Yep! Laundry is always blog worthy! I wonder why most of the laundromats around the world give us poor students so much of trouble.... *thinks deeply*
haha see? this is what happens when Soleil is not around to lend you her clothes rack :p anyway, I'm proud that you found a clever way to solve the problem :)
the jeans photo actually looks like a photo of the jeans department in a shopping mall!
Hehehe...funny post! I've never done my own laundry till now...uhhh...so, I really dunno about the woes associated with it. :P

Enjoy the sweet laundry free years my friend! they disappear the minute u set foot into a hostel. And i tell u.. those laundry machines are evil and their sole purpose in life (if they have one that is), is to torture us innocent and sweet students!
hahaha.. gr8 to hav u back to blog land. .funny post.. cute pics. laundry is a tale byitself.. had this funny incident once, where it wasraiing like crazy in bangalore,. i used to live in this underground sort of a room, that was really low level. my books all arranged, clothes put out to dry. i come back and everythin is floating. there was an inch or two of water because of the rain. GOD it was so much work.. my back groans even today, thinkin of all the mopping!!!
Macho-girl,
True, rain on a laundry day is not at all welcome. Didnt your hostel authorities say anything to you for drying them in a line inside ur room?
Backstreet jeans! and we(s)tline!LOL!
The teddy by now might have caught cold by wearing ur wet jeans.
#outlaw
u had to mop the rainwater outta ur room? Wow! that must have been one heck of a drying and mopping session!!! I can understand ur poor back's pain ;)

Nah.. lots of people dry stuff in their rooms. The hostel authorities know that there arent enuf dryers to dry everything that enters the laundry room.

Teddy was fine! I put the clothes to dry in the morning and took that picture in the evening when i was getting bored of all the studying i had endured. So teddy just tried on my kinda slightly damp jeans ;)
nice answer about the teddy.
