Another puzzle solved :)

When I told people that I was going back home for the entire three month summer vacation, they thought I was mad. They warned me that I would get too darn bored. I'd probably enjoy the first couple of weeks, but after that I will start missing NUS. Well, I did start missing my NUS friends pretty soon, but never got bored in those three months. In fact, only one thing was going through my head...

So much to enjoy but so little time....

One of the things that kept me busy was a birthday present of mine. My dad read this post of mine on the first 1000 piece puzzle I solved and then went straight to the shop and got me another one!!! It was awesome!!! The sad part was that I got this present about 2 days before I was to leave to Singapore. I couldn't possibly finish that puzzle!! So it had to ferment in my room for 4 months.

Soon enough, I was back. I just took things easy for the first one week of my vacation, then started giving my all to my violin class, driving classes and the 1000 piece puzzle. Life was good :)

I managed to finish the puzzle about a month before I came back to Singapore and I couldn't be prouder. This puzzle wasn't like the previous one I solved. It was much more difficult and I had much more fun solving it. It was a beautiful Claude Monet painting and was filled with colours. Thats a good thing when you look at the entire picture, but bad news if you look at itty-bitty pieces which are filled with colour! At first, work progressed slowly, then when I was reaching the final parts of the puzzle, I just knew which piece went where! Now I am ready to solve another 1000 piece puzzle! :P

People think that I am mad. How could anyone possibly love solving 1000 piece puzzles??!!! They were created to torture people! But I love them. I have fun solving them because each piece that I manage to solve, teaches me something new. Each piece that I try to search for teaches me something about patience. Each piece that doesn't seem to fit anywhere tells me something about the useless nature of anger and frustration. But most importantly, each piece that does fit in perfectly to contribute to the overall picture, teaches me that the fruit of hard work is the sweetest (and it makes me very very very very happy! Thats the major benefit! :D). Hopefully I will remember that lesson throughout this semester!

But even though I had my philosophical moments with my puzzle, I followed the steps that I had mentioned in my previous 1000 piece puzzle post to the very last detail! :P Ask my mom how often I would just quit and leave the room out of sheer frustration and anger!!! My table got banged quite a few times *ouch*. There was even a point of time when I was entirely convinced that one particular piece's place was in the dustbin :P There were moments when I thought the puzzle making people goofed up and gave a few extra pieces just to confuse me!

Thankfully this puzzle had all its pieces. Nothing more, nothing less. Did you know that not all 1000 piece puzzles have exactly 1000 pieces???!!! The one that I just solved had 1008!!!!! I didn't know that till I finished the puzzle and counted all the pieces! (Once the solving part was over, I was pretty jobless, you see)

Well, there it is!!! The masterpiece of Claude Monet converted into a 1000 piece masterpiece by Macho Girl!!! There, you go... a double masterpiece!!

Thank you, thank you! No applause required!

(but I won't complain if you do applaud :P)

Yay! Congrats on finishing the puzzle! It looks very pretty! If I may...

*clap clap* :D

And my, you're getting to see some philosophical stuff in a lot of things these days, aren't you? Makes me wish even more that we'd taken that 3rd level Philosophy module - so apt! :P

I am so happy that your perseverance paid off. Claude Monet will be PUZZLED because your creation looks better than the original. Fit enough to be a museum piece. keep it up!!
